Arca rail for a hunting rifle — does it matter over Picatinny?
Building a 6.5 Creedmoor for longer-range hunting trips — public land, variable conditions, shots anywhere from 200 to 600 yards. I'm trying to figure out whether to go Arca or stick with Picatinny for the bipod interface.
I know Arca is more common on precision rigs and factory precision rifles, but most of what I've handled in the field runs Picatinny. My question is practical: if I'm hunting solo or with a host who doesn't care about setup time, is there a real difference in field performance between the two? Or is this more about standardization and ease of switching gear?
Also — if I go Arca, am I locking myself into a narrower ecosystem of bipods and accessories when I'm already running other gear on Picatinny?
