Ruger 10/22

The **Ruger 10/22** is a semi-automatic .22 LR rifle that has been in continuous production since 1964. It is the best-selling rimfire rifle in American history. The platform's appeal is identical to the AR-15's on a smaller scale: an enormous aftermarket that lets a shooter turn a $300 plinker into a $3,000 precision rimfire rifle without changing the serialized receiver. Stocks, barrels, triggers, actions, and magazines are all widely available. A stock 10/22 is a perfectly good rabbit gun and trainer. A modified 10/22 is whatever you want it to be — NRL22 competition rifle, precision benchrest gun, tactical trainer, or squirrel assassin. For teaching a new shooter the fundamentals without teaching them recoil, nothing in the American market is more appropriate.
