The original full-size Glock. The 9mm that started the polymer-framed revolution.

The **Glock 17** is the original Glock — the 1980 pistol that introduced the polymer-framed, striker-fired 9mm to police and civilian markets and started a revolution that every other major manufacturer eventually followed. Compared to its popular compact sibling the Glock 19, the G17 is slightly larger and slightly easier to shoot well: longer sight radius, larger grip frame, and 17-round standard magazines. The tradeoff is carry comfort — the G17 is a duty pistol, a home-defense pistol, and a competition pistol first. Carry is possible; easy is not. For a first full-size pistol, for a home-defense 9mm, or for a duty sidearm, the G17 is hard to argue against. Nothing in its class is more reliable; most of its competitors are still chasing it.
