**6.5 PRC** (Precision Rifle Cartridge) is Hornady's magnum-class answer to shooters who wanted 6.5mm ballistics with another 200+ fps of velocity and another 200+ yards of reach on steel. Released in 2018, it occupies the space between 6.5 Creedmoor and .300 Win Mag. Where the Creedmoor is content inside 1,000 yards, the PRC is genuinely comfortable at 1,200 and beyond. The cost is more recoil, shorter barrel life, and heavier rifles to tame the case. Most serious PRS competitors who have outgrown the Creedmoor settle here before moving to the 7mm magnums. It's not for everyone — and not for every rifle — but when the target is a long way off, it earns its weight.
